VUmc
The VU medical center (VUmc) is one of eight university medical centres in the Netherlands. VUmc’s core objectives are to deliver patient care in close association with scientific research, academic teaching and postgraduate training. The medical centre is a relatively young organisation. It opened in 1964 as an academic hospital, and carried out its the first operations in the same year. The VU hospital was officially opened in 1966. VUmc was created in 2001 by the merger of the medical school and the academic hospital. In 2016, VUmc boasted 7,203 employees (including over 6,000 FTE, of which 726 were academic staff), and more than 2,200 students; it also had 2,743 scientific publications to its name and a turnover of 767 million euros.
What we do for VUmc
We provide the bridge between VUmc’s system and its users. Our consultants work with VUmc’s managerial support staff via a co-sourcing model in which we jointly maintain a stable Oracle EBS and perform change requests. If users at VUmc have questions about the system, they call the Oracle eBS helpdesk, which is backed by a Front Office staffed entirely by Profource specialists. Profource has run VUmc’s entire accounts payable process since 2013. On VUmc’s behalf, we receive, process and pay more than 110,000 invoices each year under an outsourcing agreement and SLA. Our on-site Front Office allows us to work closely with VUmc’s own employees. This Front Office is the point of contact for all departments in the hospital. Meanwhile, the Back Office down at Profource’s headquarters is responsible for every aspect of the processing and management of all purchase invoices.
