Meet the REST API!
REST API?
REST API: the data exchange tool.
Meet the API
Becoming the new standard for data-exchange between applications within Oracle Fusion, the API (application programming interface) is a set of rules and mechanisms (using HTTP) by which one application or component can interact with the other in every possible format, such as XML and JSON. For some modules within Oracle, interaction between applications can only be established by REST API.
REST API can streamline your process in the following ways:
- To support Single Sign On functionality, REST API can be used to exchange user data between the active directory of the overall IT environment and Oracle Fusion.
- REST API can be used to update employee data within Fusion, based on changes implemented within your local payroll system and vice versa.
REST API operation methods
REST API comes down to four types of operation:
- receiving data in a convenient format
- creating new data
- updating data
- deleting data
These translate to the following methods:
GET : to receive the resource representation
POST : to add some information to the resource
PUT : to modify the resource
DELETE : to delete the resource
Why use REST API?
As REST API is becoming the new standard data exchange tool for Oracle Fusion Cloud modules, customers should familiarize themselves with this tool. Profource has the technical knowledge to set up these services and to realize streamlined, integrated and efficient processes for your organization.
